We have been growing vines on this land for 7 generations and know all its whims, secrets and, above all, its potential.
We own 12.77 of the 35.06 hectares that make up the Altenberg de Bergheim Grand Cru. We are very conscious of the outstanding legacy bequeathed us by our forefathers and, as we wish to pass this on to our own children, all our vines within this Grand Cru have been grown organically since 2012.
Our Riesling Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim, whatever the vintage, is a complex wine with a full-body and great concentration, set off by crisp, delicate aromatics.
There are aromas of citrus fruit and a touch of minerality, the acidity is elegant and well-balanced, and there is a slightly savoury note on the finish. It is an expressive, harmonious wine that encapsulates all our knowledge and experience.
It is a wine for laying down, so we release Riesling Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim after a minimum of 5 years resting in bottle in our cellars so that our customers can appreciate its full potential. Those with enough patience can wait 10 to 15 years in a classic vintage and 20 to 30 years in a great vintage before enjoying the wines.
