Gustave Lorentz 2011 Altenberg de Bergheim Vielles Vignes, Riesling

Shimmering light gold color. Complex, citrusy, perfumed aromas of lychee syrup, sweet orange marmalade, iris, and new shoes with a round, vibrant, dry medium-full body and a peppery, very complex, very long fresh lychee, lemon curd, bitter almonds, and grapefruit segments finish with fruit, fine, well-integrated tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. Fantastically complex and commanding Riesling with the power to stand up to almost any dish.

Pale light golden straw color. Grassy, citrusy, exotic aromas of nectarine, fern, and lemon icing with a crisp, dry medium body and a complex, medium-length peach nectar, dill, fennel fronds, and slate finish with fine, fruit tannins. A bright and pure pinot blanc to please a crowd

Pale yellow straw color. Fruity, floral, elegant aromas of orange blossom, vanilla lychee sorbet, and starfruit with a supple, racy, dry medium-full body and an appealing, medium-length fresh starfruit, bitter almond, and clementine zest finish with fruit, fine tannins and no oak flavor. Dazzling starfruit flavors dominate in this fresh and exotic wine.

Yellow straw color. Perfumed, elegant, rubbery aromas of water lilly, fresh tangerine juice, guanabana, and petrol with a velvety, racy, dryish medium-full body and a peppery, subtle, long mango coulis, passion fruit panna cotta, crystallized ginger, and delicate white pepper finish with well-integrated, fruit, fine tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. Gorgeously full and complex Riesling for weekend dinners with friends.

90 points – Gold Medal

Pale yellow straw color. Perfumed, floral, inviting aromas of lush tropical flowers, overripe pineapple, fresh cilantro, and whipped cream with a round, crisp, off-dry medium-full body and a delightful, medium-length bruised pineapple, tuberose, caramelized passion fruit, and Chinese five spice finish with fine, fruit tannins and no oak flavor. A delectable floral white with ample fruit.

Brilliant gold color. Exotic, floral aromas of powdery white flowers, sunflowers, and pineapple soda with a round, racy, very sweet medium-full body and an interesting, medium-long hazlenuts, cinnamon and asian pear compote, quince paste, and balloon finish with fruit, fine tannins and no oak flavor. A singing desert wine for effortless pairings.
